Having, Doing, Being

In modern times, people define themselves in terms of their assets (having) and activities (doing). People perhaps do not know how to define themselves in terms of merely “being”. Well, the late and great Swami Sivananda has an answer for this. Om. Om is the name of spirit which is the essence of God, the Oversoul, called Paramatman in Sanskrit and the name of the soul, who we really are, called atman in Sanskrit.

By meditating and reflecting on this one simple sound, you grow in awareness about yourself in timeless and existential terms that are always true and that are above and beyond transitory self-definitions based on your current assets or work/school/travel based activities.

I am Om.
God is Om.
All this is Om.
Amen.  /|\
