After travelling the spiritual path for 40 years now, I conclude that mantra meditation is the middle path recommended by Buddha and here is why. From the material angle there is only so much that one can do. Too much stress and concern is a killer. On the other hand, apathy helps nobody. So, by focusing on one's mantra one is helping oneself, others, the planet and is perfectly situated between over action and no action. Om. Amen.
